Welsh Water contact residents after demand increases by 25%
Welsh Water have contacted residents in the area asking them to save water where possible due to a surge in demand.
They said that the extremely warm weather has meant that they have seen demand increase by 25%.
This is an additional 198 million litres of water needed every day.
In a text message sent to some residents in the Ross-on-Wye area they said: “Water use in your area is much higher than usual. We are working round the clock to keep water flowing to your taps and asking customers to help us reduce demand on the network by using all the water that you need but please don’t waste it. Turn off taps, take a shorter shower, don’t re-fill paddling pools, avoid using sprinklers for the garden and instead reuse water where you can.
