Ross Rowing Club Regatta will go ahead
Ross Rowing Club have announced that the Regatta will be taking place on the August Bank Holiday weekend.
The event was cancelled last year due to the coronavirus pandemic, but the Regatta Committee have been working hard behind the scenes for the last few months to get this year’s event up and running, and the Ross-on-Wye Regatta will now be one of the few regattas to take place this year.
A spokesperson said: “Held over the August Bank Holiday weekend, the regatta is a hugely popular event, not only with competitors from around the country, but it’s also a highlight on the Ross social calendar, attracting visitors and spectators from the local community.
“It’s a real opportunity for us to showcase what a fantastic club we have, and extend a warm and friendly welcome to all those who attend.
“The Regatta 2020 was cancelled last year due to Covid-19, and with ongoing lockdowns and the added challenges we’ve faced with the club refurbishment after last year’s catastrophic floods, it hasn’t been certain as to whether we’ll be able to hold it up until very recently.
“However, we’re back, and this will be just one of the few regattas to be held in 2021 and is sure to be even more popular than usual.”
