Ross Food Hub to launch two new stalls
Started last year The Ross Food Hub has been a huge success with helping the community access fresh fruit and vegetables and reducing food waste in Ross-on-Wye.
The Zero Waste Stall, which is part of Ross Food Hub and was launched in November has so far given out almost 4 tonnes of surplus food.
The Zero Waste Stall has fresh items, which are close to their sell by date, are collected from food stores in the Ross area. The food is free and is available to anyone, whether you want to cut down on food waste or reduce your produce costs.
The stalls are based at the Community Garden in Old Gloucester Road and open Monday-Saturday 10.30am-12noon every week.
Tomorrow, Wednesday 17th March, two new stalls will be launched. Let’s Cook – set up to help support people in the area of food and cooking, with access to meal ideas and providing help with cooking equipment. And Grow Your Own Food – to encourage and support people to grow their own food.
At the launch there will be plenty of tips and advice, plus free starter packs, vegetable seeds and some free secondhand tools to get you started. Be sure to pop along.
There is much more planned for the future including a pizza oven which will be arriving on site very soon!
