Remembering a true Rossian – Joyce Davis

Well-known town and county councillor and rossian, Joyce Davis, sadly passed away on Tuesday 23rd March.
Joyce will be remembered for her love and dedication to the town. As well as helping to get Ross Recycling Centre and the bus bays at John Kyrle High School up and running, she also abseiled down the church on her 70th birthday in 2002, where she raised £1200 for the Samaritans and the Parkinson Disease Society.
Joyce worked for the Samaritans for over 20 years and helped many people, and she would regularly visit Brockhill Prison in Redditch to meet with the prisoners.
She was also a Governor for a number of years at John Kyrle High School, and Nigel Griffiths, Headteacher, has paid tribute to Joyce saying: “I remember Joyce as a lady with a smile on her face, a sparkle in her eye and someone who had a kind word to say about everybody.” Read the fill tribute below.
Her funeral will take place on Wednesday 7th April, however due to covid restrictions the service is already at full capacity.
