Permission granted for new £2.3 million Science Centre at John Kyrle High School
On Monday 24th May John Kyrle High School were given planning permission for a new £2.3 million Science Centre.
In 2018 the local authority, Herefordshire Council, secured funding for the school which John Kyrle said it needed because of its rapidly increasing student numbers, which was in part due to new housing developments in the town.
Since then, the school undertook a building capacity exercise and identified the need for improved science facilities.
Work will begin on the new building this summer, with the completion planned for early spring 2022.
Headteacher Nigel Griffiths said: “As we emerge from the pandemic, the timing of the new building couldn’t be better. This, and the record number of pupils applying to join the school in September, is further indication of our success and our long-term ambitions.”
