Feeding 50 local families this Christmas
Rossians are known for their fantastic community spirit, we have seen this throughout this testing year, and now local businesses and community groups have joined together to provide hampers to help those in need locally this Christmas.
Andy Element from Wye Security Solutions wanted to do something to help those families within the community who may be struggling this Christmas after a tough year. He approached Tim Hanks at Hanks’ Meat & Game with the idea and a large donation to provide hampers to those in need.
Working together, and thanks to generous donations from other local businesses and the Ross Rotary Club, it has meant there will be 50 hampers ready to be distributed come the festive season. There will be 30 meat hampers and 20 turkey hampers, which will include vegetables thanks to the donation from Ross Rotary, and each hamper will be enough to feed a family of five.
Working alongside the Ross Community Food Larder and Mayor Councillor Daniel Lister, the hampers will be given to those families who may need a little help this Christmas.
Andy from Wye Security Solutions told Ross-on-line: “Christmas can be a financial hard time for families, and sitting around a table with your family is important. With Tim and Ross Rotary Club’s help we are able to help a few local families this Christmas.”
Tim from Hanks’ Meat & Game said: “After all the support I have received this year as a business, this is a perfect opportunity to help those who need help during these difficult times too. I take great pride in being able to give something back to our wonderful community.”
Denise Beken, President of the Ross Rotary Club, said: “We are delighted to be a part of this initiative that Andy and Tim have discussed. It has been a difficult year for everyone and the Rotary Club of Ross-on-Wye are pleased to be able to give back to the community of Ross.”
Mayor Councillor Daniel Lister told Ross-on-line: “It’s wonderful to see local traders and charities coming together this Christmas to provide a Christmas meal to a number of local people. Our community spirt and great selection of independents that work together in times of need is something to be truly proud of.”
Ross-on-line is proud to be backing this fantastic initiative.
