The Town Clerk at Ross Town Council has issued a statement saying a number of memorials at Ross Town Cemetery in Tudorville have been found to be unsafe.

Sarah Robson, Town Clerk, said: “Following inspection of all memorials in the Ross-on-Wye Town Cemetery on 4th June 2020, several stones were found to be unsafe. These have been marked with tape and will be made safe temporarily with wooden stakes.

“Please take extra care when visiting the cemetery and avoid contact with all marked stones.

“The owners of the deeds of unsafe memorials are being contacted and will be required to arrange for them to be made safe by a suitable memorial mason as soon as possible.

“The safety of the public who use the cemetery is of paramount importance to us and while we appreciate that this can be upsetting for deed owners, we are sure you will understand the reasons why we have had to undertake this procedure.”
