Two youngsters from Ross-on-Wye have been named the IDTA South West Area Latin Medalists of the Year for 2021.

Mia, a pupil at Walford Primary, and Joel, a pupil at John Kyrle, attend Ross based dance school, Dance Your Way, which is run by Miranda De Barra, and were delighted to win at the IDTA (International Dance Teachers Association) South West competition in Berkeley on 14th November, and now go on to compete in Manchester in January.

Miranda De Barra said: “It was a wonderful day of dance from all our Dance Your Way Competitors. A huge congratulations to Mia and Joel who were named the IDTA South West Area Latin Medalists of the Year for 2021.

“They stretched themselves to their limit and danced to a standard that earned incredible personal praise from the adjudicator for their 4 dance display in Cha Cha, Samba, Jive and Paso Doble.

“I hope they inspire our new dancers to stretch themselves and to explore their full potential too. Mia and Joel were beginners only a few years ago, and we all saw the standard they achieved, which was outstanding.

“Thank you also to all their classmates who encourage and support them, as well as each other. You are all true sportsmen and women of dignity, kindness and respect and you have made me feel proud and humble.”

Mia and Joel are looking for sponsorship from a local business for their competition in Manchester please email Miranda at info@dance-yourway.com for more information.
