Police launch pilot scheme called StreetSafe
Police have launched a pilot service called StreetSafe which allows you to anonymously tell them about public places where you have felt or feel unsafe, because of environmental issues, eg street lighting, abandoned buildings or vandalism and/or because of some behaviours, eg being followed or verbally abused.
What is StreetSafe?
As part of the government’s agenda to tackle violence against women and girls, Police forces, including West Mercia, are trialling a new online tool called StreetSafe to enable people, particularly women and girls, to report locations where they feel or have felt unsafe and to identify the features on why that location made them feel unsafe.
StreetSafe is a 3-month pilot which is police-supported and has been developed in cooperation with the Home Office and the National Police Chiefs’ Council (NPCC).

Please note: ‘StreetSafe’ is not for reporting crime or incidents.
If something has happened to you or someone you know (including in public spaces online) let them know using the online ‘Tell Us About’ form on their website www.westmercia.police.uk.
If you aren’t comfortable contacting them directly, you can pass on information anonymously to the independent charity, Crimestoppers, by calling 0800 555 111 or by visiting their website: www.crimestoppers-uk.org
If you ever feel at risk, or a crime is in progress, please always dial 999.
