Paving has been smashed, benches removed, dugouts damaged and goalposts pulled out of the ground at Ross Sports Centre.

Ross Sports Centre shared the following post on social media on Friday.

“Over the last few weeks we have had paving smashed, benches removed, dugouts damaged and goalposts pulled out of ground.

“The majority of our users are great and responsible.

“Each week thousands of people benefit from parkrun, cricket, football, pétanque or just using the grounds for a walk with their dogs.

“We appreciate all those that clear up after themselves, those that litter pick and those who hand lost property in.

“We are a group of volunteers giving time up so people can use our beautiful grounds.

“Every time something is broken or vandalised it costs, we get no central funding at all.

“We have to raise funds to maintain the grounds and building and would rather not spend this money on replacing stuff broken by mindless idiots.

“The irony is that those causing the damage have probably benefited many times from using the facilities as kids and will one day as parents.”
