It’s often that as a news outlet, we receive messages about the bad experiences people have had, or things that are frustrating members of the public, so it was nice to receive the following email this morning about a company from Ross-on-Wye.

“In January 2022 my 87-year-old mother made the brave decision to downsize from what had been the family home to a retirement flat.

“She found a vacant flat in a nearby development, and within days found a ‘no-chain’ buyer for her house. So, it all looked good-to-go and should have taken just a matter of weeks to process the necessary legal paperwork and complete. You would think!

“However, because of a litany of complications including delays, mistakes, deaths etc. we only completed the sale and purchase this week! 16 months later.

“I do not wish to go into the details of the whys and wherefores of all that has transpired over the last 16 months.

“Suffice to say the whole experience has been unbelievably stressful for all involved, not least my 87-year-old mother who on top of the emotional upheaval of moving home, has had to bear with a seemingly endless series of problems, disappointments, stress, and delays.

“What I do wish to highlight however, is the unbelievable service provided by the local estate agents; Morris Bricknell of Ross-on-Wye. They have been astonishingly supportive of my mother throughout the entire ordeal. I don’t even know how to describe, not just the care, but the love that they have shown my mother over this last year and a half. Without their encouragement, support and care I don’t believe my mother would have coped.

“They have kept her going through some very, very dark times. They have visited her at home, sent flowers and even Christmas gifts, but above all they have cared for her throughout.

“They have been an absolute pleasure to work with and deserve recognition for the service they have given. I encourage you to research and report this Good News Story.

“I shall be visiting their office with a well deserved thank you gift in the next few weeks.

“People I would particularly like to recognize (In no particular order) are Norman Bricknell (Proprietor), Greg Powell (Agency Manager) and Amanda Denny.”
