Weston Youth FC (WYFC) is a brand new football club being set up in Ross-on-Wye. The club will offer a friendly and professional environment for boys and girls of all abilities. All sessions will be delivered by FA qualified and licensed coaches.

Initially two established teams will be starting the 2021 season wearing the WYFC strip; an U13 Girls team an U9 Boys team. A spokesperson told Ross-on-line: “The families of these young players (and the young players themselves) have shown an immeasurable amount of support and share our excitement for what is to come.

“In time WYFC hope to offer footballing opportunities to more and more age groups, but as a new club it’s important to us that the growth is managed in the correct way.

“WYFC will assist in creating additional competition within local leagues. It is an exciting prospect for local boys and girls to have a choice about which club they now play for.”

Weston Youth Football Club will be based at Weston under Penyard, and will be sharing the facilities with the Weston Men’s Football Club. The spokesperson said: “Weston is an excellent venue. The facilities are superb, and offer everything a Youth Football Club requires; pitches, floodlights, club house facilities and car parking.

“We feel immensely privileged to be sharing these with Weston Men’s Football Club. Steve Salmon and the men’s team have shown WYFC nothing but encouragement and support. We cannot wait to share our home ground with them, and look forward to a positive relationship that will benefit all club members.”

With a growing population in Ross-on-Wye the club creators felt that there is even more demand for youth football.
