Herefordshire Council will be adding an extra £10 to the Shop Local prepaid cards that were issued last year to help support local businesses.

The cards were originally loaded with £15, however they are now adding an extra £10 to the cards to be used in Herefordshire shops.

Applications have closed to apply for the cards, however if you received one last year your card should have an additional £10 loaded to be spent by 31st March 2022.

If you have already used your card to make a purchase, it should now work contactless. If you want to check the balance (at any ATM) you will need your PIN. If you have forgotten your PIN you will need to contact 0330 808 0965.

If you have lost or disposed of your card, you can contact Herefordshire Council before 21st March to request a new one at shoplocal@herefordshire.gov.uk or on 01432 260000 – you will need to provide all the details you originally applied with including your name, address and date of birth.

Residents who haven’t yet activated their card are urged to follow the activation steps using the instructions on the letter it came with, and spend the funds before the cards expire. If you need help contact shoplocal@herefordshire.gov.uk or 01432 260000.

The card must be used in Herefordshire. That way we can all help our great county and its local and independent retailers, producers and traders bounce back from the pandemic and ensure our retail, hospitality, cultural and leisure sectors continue to thrive.

The cards can be used at any business in the county that accepts Mastercard payments but cannot be used for some uses including off-licences, as well as for betting and gambling (including lottery tickets and casinos), dating and escort services, massage parlours, automated fuel pumps, cable, satellite or other paid TV subscription services and telecommunications services.

You can check your balance by calling 0330 808 0102

Help is available for anyone having difficulty activating their card – email shoplocal@herefordshire.gov.uk or telephone 01432 260 000.
