Goodrich Virtual Open Gardens
Goodrich residents are inviting you to share a cup of tea and cake with friends online whilst taking a virtual tour of nine of their glorious gardens.
Explore a wide variety of gardens. From large or small, new or mature, there are many hidden horticultural gems to discover and all have beautiful views, many of Coppett Hill, a local nature reserve with its wide variety of flora and fauna.
With plans already in place to ‘Open Gardens’ in Goodrich this June, to raise funds for St Michael’s Hospice in Hereford, it was decided that with so many other fundraising events being cancelled, and with the pressing on-going support needed at their local Hospice, that the village should still, somehow, go ahead with this event. The locals rallied, and skills combined, to produce a ‘virtual visit’, via video link, to bring you a viewing of a selection of nine of their glorious gardens that can be watched in the comfort of your own home or garden.
The film goes live on the 21st June and can be found on St Michael’s Hospice website: https://www.st-michaels-hospice.org.uk/event/goodrich/ So relax with a cuppa and join the people of Goodrich to virtually view their gardens. They look forward to ‘welcoming’ you.
Jo Ward-Ellison, local award-winning garden designer, who was organising the Goodrich Open Gardens event says: “A big thank you goes to all those who have worked hard to make the virtual event a reality. And of course, we hope very much that our gardens will be welcoming visitors for real next summer.”
And local resident, Cathy, who initiated this year’s virtual, and has worked hard on the communications and co-ordination of much of the project, says: “It is so inspiring to see local residents and the gardeners of Goodrich working so hard at a time of crisis to ensure that funds continue to be raised for the brilliant work of the Hospice.”
