Fraudsters target Ross-on-Wye residents
Fraudsters have been targeting Ross-on-Wye residents today, Friday 20th January, by posing as police officers who want your PIN and bank card number.
Two elderly Ross-on-Wye residents received calls from a male claiming to be DCI Andy Watson, collar DB369, from Epsom/Didcot police station.
He claimed somebody had got hold of their bank card and had withdrawn £2,900. He also said he had their passport. He gave a ref number of DK250ML.
In the other call he said there has been a fraudulent payment of £3000 on their card and that it had been cloned.
In both calls the fraudster attempted to gain card and PIN numbers. Thankfully none were given out.
Police will NEVER ask for your bank or card details.
This is a scam! Please make elderly relatives and neighbours aware.
