The A40 at Weston under Penyard will be closed from 26th October to 6th November, 9am-5pm Monday to Friday, for resurfacing works along with the addition of new traffic calming measures. The preparatory work will be taking place between 13th – 25th October under a stop/go traffic lights system.
The road will be resurfaced from the 40mph limit west of the Village to the 30mph limit east of The Elms.
A more significant change is the creation of a mini-roundabout at the junction of Whitehall Road, beside the Weston Cross Inn. The new junction will be illuminated with street lighting which will be installed. A new pedestrian island and bus stop will also be created by the Weston Cross Inn.
The new works will also see the removal of the existing centre white line and replacing it with edge of carriageway line markings, and give way lines at side junctions are to be brought forward, enhancing visibility for vehicles turning on to the A40.
