Fire crew from Ross-on-Wye and large Animal Rescue Team from Bromyard were call to an incident yesterday afternoon, Tuesday 4th October to rescue a cow that had become trapped in the mud on the edge of the river.

A Bromyard Fore Station spokesperson said: “All jobs are different and present different challenges, and this was one of those jobs. The cow was stuck up to her waist in mud. Crews had to entered the water so that they could fit straps around the cow, then using the farmers equipment she was pulled on to a large board which enabled us to slide her up the embankment to a place of safety.

”Joel Galloway from Belmont Farm & Equine Vets was on seen to look after her welfare during the rescue. Great team work from all that were involved saw the successful rescue where she was able to returned to the herd.”
