13-year-old Faith Dinsdale from Ross-on-Wye will be climbing Pen y Fan tomorrow alongside her friend Abbie Padmore, all in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support.

Faith’s mum, Jenny, was diagnosed with breast cancer earlier this year and is currently undergoing chemotherapy. Macmillan have been a huge support to the family during these testing times.

The family enjoy going for walks, so Faith came up with the idea to combine their love for walking while raising money for a fantastic cause. Faith and Abbie have been training separately due to the coronavirus pandemic, and will be followed on the walk by a safety team.

Jenny told Ross-on-line: “Myself and my husband are hugely proud of Faith and Abbie for wanting to raise money for such a wonderful cause.

“Since being diagnosed with cancer in May, Macmillan have been a huge support to us. In particular the Macmillan Renton unit in Hereford who have been amazing, and have helped me through the process massively.”

Initially the girls wanted to raise £300, but they soon reached £1000, and are now close to raising £2000!

We will be providing updates on their climb throughout the day tomorrow.
