The Ross Lions Firework Display will be making a comeback this year, just in time to celebrate their 50th anniversary.

For 50 years, there have been Lions in Ross, with local men and women volunteering their time and skills to make a difference in the community.

In the coming weeks and months, the Lions will be looking for ways to celebrate, based on a golden 50 theme. The celebrations will begin with a fantastic fireworks display.

This year the event, held on 5th November, will be at a new location, the car park at Wilton. Ross Cricket Club have kindly given permission for the fireworks to be set off from their boundary.

The viewing area is in Wilton car park, where there will also be limited free parking. Due to necessary covid precautions, organisers ask that if you feel unwell to please not attend, and to remember the covid rules that apply at the time.

The event will open from 6pm, with the fireworks beginning at 7pm. There will be stalls and vans selling hot food, drinks, and fun light sticks. Please remember that this is a display, so other fireworks or sparklers are not allowed. Volunteer Stewards will be patrolling and First Aiders will be present to help to make it safe for all.

This Celebration is free of charge, however donations are welcome, and a few Lions will be there with collection buckets.

This annual event, paused during the pandemic, is a tradition that Ross Lions continue to put together for the people of Ross-on-Wye and the town’s visitors to enjoy. As a charity organisation, requests can be made for support. If you know of an individual or group that may need help please visit the website http://www.rossonwyelions.org

The website is also the place to find out more about Lions, what members do and how volunteers can help, as is the Ross Lions Facebook page. Anyone interested in volunteering with the Ross Lions Club can also call 0345 8335786
