It was an exciting day when the Basement Youth Trust realised they could reopen their Youth Club sessions once again in the Venue, Hill Street.

Having been closed for so long, it was great for the Youth Work Team to get the building ready to welcome teenagers back, in groups of 15, to have fun and be safe.

The Youth Work team of Laura, Abbi and Amy are looking for someone to join them, so if any local people are interested in getting involved on a part-time basis, they can get in touch with them via the Chair of the Trust, Keith Wilding.

Representing the Trustees, Keith thanked all those who worked hard to prepare for the reopening. He said: “It has been touch and go, at times we thought we might not be able to get going again, but the Government have recognised how important it is for young people to have support and a place to be safe, which the Trust aims to provide.”

The Trust would welcome involvement from local people who might like to join the Management Team or gain experience of Youth Work. There is currently a vacancy for one member of staff and volunteers are always welcome.
