Upcoming 6 week road closure on A40 at Lea
The A40 in the Lea, from the B4224 to the Gloucestershire Boundary, will be closed from Monday 11th January 2021 for 6 weeks for flood management works.
There will be access for residents and pedestrian access will be maintained.
The work on the flood management includes crossing the A40 with a 900mm diameter pipe and associated manholes in the A40 and collection chambers North and South of the A40.
Full details of the phases of the planned work:
Phase 1: A40
Work between Crown Barns and Old Mill Lane crossing the A40: Full closure (24 hours, 7 days a week) of the A40 from Monday 11th January until Friday 19th February. Pedestrian Access maintained.
Phase 2: Old Mill Lane
Work between Brook House and Derwent House (adjacent to the A40): Full closure (24 hours, 7 days a week) Wednesday 20th January until Saturday 27th February
Works along Old Mill Lane between Brook House and the B4222:
• Main deep drainage run: Wednesday 27th January until Friday 5th February
• Secondary pipework (new gullies, connections and access chambers): Saturday 6th February until Monday 22nd February.
• Resurfacing of Old Mill Lane: Tuesday 23rd February until Thursday 25th February.
Stagecoach bus services – During the closure periods buses will not be able to access the Crown Inn bus stop in Lea. Passengers who use this stop will need to board and alight at the bus stop opposite Lea Church. Buses will depart from the Church bus stop at the time they would normally depart from the Crown Inn. This will apply to buses traveling in both directions.
