During the recent floods, our local Sea Cadets lost most of the equipment they use for the young people to carry out expeditions towards their Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme qualifications.

Ross-on-Wye Lions Club applied to Lions International for support to help organisations within Ross who had been severely effected and had lost equipment.

The Commanding Officer of the Unit wrote in her thank you letter: “On behalf of everyone at Ross-on-Wye and Monmouth Sea Cadet Unit, I would like to say thank you for the grant to help us replace our Adventure Training Equipment, which sadly got ruined in the February floods.

“Sadly, the flood water came in a lot higher than anyone had expected. I know the equipment will be put to good use once we are operational after the current covid-19 situation as our cadets (young people) are already asking to go camping and start on their Duke of Edinburgh Scheme (DofE).”
