Made in Ross Peace Pole for Community Garden
The artists and craftsmen at Made in Ross are one of the several groups and individuals who have been decorating a peace pole for the Community Garden in Ross-on-Wye.
Decorating the Made in Ross peace pole began during Spring, when the gallery was closed, by artists – Jackie Poulter, Louise Pilditch, Eleanor Kercher, Annabel Neilson and Frances Warren.
Louise researched the folk lore and images of the four languages that Tim Shelley, the organiser, had allocated the collective. These are Chinese, Russian, Filipino and Randi. They then created a design to accompany each language and skilfully included a number of hedgehogs, the symbol of Ross, in the design. The pole is topped off with a cheerful cap of bouncing hedgehogs created by Eleanor, a green woodworker.
The Peace Pole Project is being organised by Tim Shelley, manager at the Ross Community Garden in association with Ross Lions.
