Rose Brennan, a Sixth Form student at JKHS, has won first prize in the national Dial-A-Poem competition with her poem ‘The Call’.

Rose was extremely excited to win the competition and her work now features alongside that of international poets such as Rishi Dastidar, Bruno Gallucio and Janet McAdams.

Rose said: “Sometimes I’ll get poetry ideas and I know I have to write them – this poem was the result of one of these moments. There’s no wrong answer with poetry, which is what I love about it – you can make it up as you go along and it will still be a poem. Anyone can be a poet with a bit of confidence!”
