Hundreds of people turned out to watch the lighting of the Beacon at the Prospect in Ross-on-Wye to mark the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee last night, Thursday 2nd June.

The Mayor of Ross-on-Wye, Cllr Ed O’Driscoll, made a short speech thanking the organisers of the event. The Herefordshire Piper, Simon Addison, played Diu Regnare, a unique tune specially written for the occasion by Piper Major, Stuart Liddell, the world’s leading piper.

The lighting of the Beacon followed. It was a fantastic sight to see, with other Beacons lit up around Herefordshire seen in the distance from the Prospect.
